The Lady Janies Book Tag

Hey, everyone! Since I’ve started reading The Goldfinch, which is a monster of a book, that also put me in a reading slump, I don’t have many bookish updates for you. Therefore, I’m going to do a tag, I haven’t done one in a long time and this one seems great!

I want to thank LaRonda @FlyingPaperbacks for tagging me, check her blog because she’s really amazing and you shouldn’t miss her posts!

The Tolkien Lover Book Tag

Hello, everyone! I’m here with a book tag because I haven’t done one in a while and I’m a bit in a blogging slump as I’ve mentioned before – I’ve been trying to write two reviews for a while now without being able to (i’m dying over here, please someone ghost-write for me) – therefore, I’ll fangirl about Tolkien for now and hope for the best!

This book tag was created by Kristen Kieffer and I wasn’t tagged by anyone, I’m doing this out of the pure need to fangirl, bye.

Let’s get into the questions!

The Book Blogger Test

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re not tired of book tags because ever since I’ve finished my exams, I’ve been in a bit of slump, so it might take some time before I post another review. So, pray to the bookish gods for my slump to be over. Thanks.

Today, I will do a test (I’m so done with tests)  and that is the Book Blogger Test. I want to thank Marie for tagging me in this one, I hope I do actually well in this one because book blogging is the most important thing in life, duh.

Valentine Book Tag

Hello, everyone! I’m back from the exam pit and I can finally write posts again *yay*, I also responded to the comments I received while I was on hiatus (I hope I didn’t miss anyone, know that I didn’t do it intentionally if it happened) and I want to thank you for being so supportive. I appreciated all your kind comments and they really kept me going!

This great tag was created by Taiwo @Stuffed Shelves, who is an amazing blogger, you should totally check her blog if you haven’t already! She’s also the person who tagged me and I thought it would be fitting to do it since Valentine’s Day is coming up! Also, the graphic above is made by her and it’s really lovely, isn’t it?

A-Z Bookish Tag

Hello, everyone! I was tagged by Laura @thebookcorps, please check her blog if you haven’t already, because she offers such good content and her design is very beautiful. Let’s get into the questions, shall we?

Author you’ve read the most books from : Krista and Becca Ritchie, J.K.Rowling and more.

Best Sequel Ever : Prince’s Gambit by C.S. Pacat, I feel like this book was a game-changer in the series. The first one had me hooked, but I also had some doubts. But this book was hands down, glorious and put every doubt of mine to rest.

Currently Reading :  I just finished the Wrath and the Dawn duology and right now I don’t know what to read next. (Update : I’ve started American Panda, so happy I got accepted for this on netgalley)

Drink of Choice While Reading : Hot chocolate!! I adore hot chocolate very much and especially, when it’s rainy or just cold weather.

E-reader or Physical Book? : Both. Ebooks are very practical for me, I prefer physical books because of the feel that you get when you’re holding the book in your hands.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School : Peter K. or Ryke Meadows, listen up, in high-school, I was very much into the athlete type (I guess opposites do attract, after all, lol). I’m pretty sure Ryke would have been such a supportive boyfriend even in high-school since he’s all for girl power and we would have gotten along so well talking about feminism. (I wouldn’t have cooked for Peter K. because I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have a death wish).

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance : I’m happy that I gave SoC and Vicious a chance because I’m awful when it comes to reading very hyped books. I’m always feeling lots of pressure because I’m afraid I won’t like them. And with Caraval, there were many negative reviews from people I trust and I’m happy that I gave it a chance, because I adored it!

Hidden Gem Book : Mariana Zapata as an author is a hidden gem for me! She’s the queen of slow-burn romances, she’s absolutely perfect at writing sport romances and I really loved these two books I’ve read from her. (I’ve read some reviews of her latest books that claimed diversity issues in those books, but I can’t speak on that topic. These two books are amazing and I totally recommend them!)

Important Moment in your Reading Life : Most probably when I started being more active on the blog because I discovered lots of amazing people with whom I interact and who have recommended me great books. And since then, I feel more connected to the community (though my reading schedule is more chaotic, I guess).

Just Finished : Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy! I will soon post a review of the book, too!

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read : I’m not sure, I tend to stay away from problematic books because I don’t like to support that kind of things. So, if people say that a book is racist or homophobic or sexist, I would tend to stay away (unless I want to read it and slam it down).

Longest Book You’ve Read : Anna Karenina (with 964 pages) and The Sunne in Splendour (936 pages), I would love to read a book that’s over 1000 pages, but it’s just so intimidating since I tend to lose my focus very easily.

Major book hangover because of : There are two types of book hangovers I might get : a book that is so bad that I end up not being able to read for a long time because of how awful it is (see The Alchemist) or a book that is sooo good that I can’t stop thinking about it (see The Winner’s Trilogy, The Hunger Games and more) .

Number of Bookcases You Own : Two, but I own less books that I would like to, there are many books that belong to my parents and they aren’t really mine. But I’m a broke student, so what can I do?

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times : No answer to that. Sorry. I just don’t do rereadings. I have so much anxiety thinking about those unread books to read a book twice.

Preferred Place To Read : My comfy bed, I adore reading in bed.

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read :

Sylvia Plath’s writing speaks to me so much (which might be bad? I really don’t care), I didn’t have much luck with Woolf’s books, but I really admire what she did as a writer.

Reading Regret : Most New Adult books I’ve read besides Zapata’s and Ritchie twins’, I always end up reading something from the genre when I’m looking for something light/a guilty pleasure. And I always end up feeling only guilty for wasting my time.

Series You Started And Need To Finish (all books are out in series) : Hahahaha, what’s this tag’s purpose? Dragging me? I have a shelf called ‘series-i-need-to-complete’, you know why? Because I don’t finish series. A Darker Shade of Magic, Heroes of Olympus, Shatter Me, Raven Cycle, Grisha, Bloodlines. You see what I’m talking about?

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books : byeeeee. The people who create these tags love to make people suffer, I’m sure of it.

1. The Winner’s Kiss

2. The Song of Achilles

3. The Hobbit

Unapologetic Fangirl For : LORD OF THE RINGS WILL ALWAYS OWN MY ASS. I’m sorry for the language, you know how I get when I’m talking of my faves. Also, Jenny Han, I did a lot of fangirling over Peter K. and Lara Jean.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others :

Madeline Miller is probably the only author who won me over with a book. I’m a pretentious asshole that needs confirmation and I’m always holding my breath, wondering if the next one will disappoint. But Miller has my blind trust.

Worst Bookish Habit : Not finishing series, like I’ve said above.

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book : Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi, I guess that’s a cue that I need to pick that book up, at last!!

Your latest book purchase : Since my birthday was on 22nd October, which was a week ago, I made some purchases on account of my relatives’ accounts.

I bought these beautiful, marvelous books and these are some books that I needed to read as soon as possible and I’m so glad that I own them now! I’ve already started TWATD and the rest I’m going to get to!

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late) : Hahahaha, every book keeps me up way late because I’m a night owl! So, the last book I’ve finished, which is Anna Karenina!

That was it for today! I hope you enjoyed the tag and now I’m going to tag some people (you can do it if you like it or you can choose not to! I don’t mind), also if people that I haven’t tagged want to do it, you’re my guest!!

Get to Know Me

Hey, everyone! I was tagged for this by Karen Jo @sincerelykarenjo, her blog is adorable, her bookish pictures are so cute and her posts are amazing, so please check out her blog, guys, because you won’t regret it! Thank you, Karen Jo for tagging me, this tag looks very exciting and I’m sure I will have a great time doing it!

Favorite color and do you have the book in that color?

My favourite color is red and I do have a book in that color and that is The Wrath and The Dawn. I took a picture of it, but it looked very basic and the light was weird, so  I’m just going to give you this absolutely perfect cover.

Describe yourself in 3 Book Characters?

This is cruel and very difficult, but I will try!

Emily from Since You’ve Been Gone because it’s very hard to get me out of my comfort zone. I’m a shy person, who rarely does adventurous stuff (unless you count travelling). I’d probably benefit from a list like the one Emily gets from Sloane, just saying!

I’m shy and introverted and bookish and at some point, I’ve written and published (on wordpress, really) fan-fiction. Even now, I love writing fanfiction, I just never publish it anymore, but yes! Definitely, a lot like Cath. She was a very relatable character and I adored reading about her because wow, girls, are we sisters? Also, very similar college experience (besides meeting a nice boy, still waiting on that).

Bronwyn because I’m pretty sure I’ve been categorized as the nerd, who never, ever breaks a rule all the time. (It’s not really that true.) I mean, I love slamming patriarchy all the time, but I guess you could say that I’m the good girl who has it figured out.

Hyped books yay or nay? If yay, what was the most hyped book you ever read? If nay, what was the most hyped book you decided not to read?

Ah, that’s not how it works for me. There are hyped books that have been very much worth the hype and overhyped books that were terrible. But no matter how good it was or how good I thought it was, I always wait for the hype to die before I pick it up. I can’t remember a time where I read a hyped book when people were still buzzing about it. I’m going to answer both questions because there have been cases for both.

Yay – Probably Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo!

Nay – Twilight, probably… (though I’ve read the fourth book, but you don’t want to know the story for this one)

Recommend one book per season. Spring. Summer. Fall. Winter

Name one book that wrecked you emotionally.

I think I’ve said it before, but Ruta Sepetys’ books usually wreck me emotionally, she has an incredible power with words, she can reveal the very essence of humanity, be it good or bad. And I adore her.

Name a book that you always recommend to everybody you know.

Well, you probably already know the books I always recommend, but for the sake of the question. The Lord of the Rings series, The Winner’s Trilogy, the Addicted series/Like Us series, Kasie West books, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Secret History, A Song of Achilles and PJATO.

What book would you recommend with tea and cookies?

Any book. DUH. But Rainbow Rowell’s books might be perfect in a mix with tea and cookies!

What is your guilty pleasure book?

New Adult books, especially Zapata books because they are so addicting and I can’t stop reading them, even though there’s a lot of drama and sometimes it’s very irrational or whatever.

Favorite dessert and a book that reminds you of that.

Cupcakes and totally Long Way Down (and Hothouse Flower) because Raisy feelings and because Daisy has a sweet tooth just like me!!

Are you a procrastinator? What book have you been procrastinating reading?

Sometimes, I guess. The Silmarillion and The House of Hades, these two poor books have been on my currently reading shelf for so long, I feel ashamed. I will hopefully read them at some point!! And also Crooked Kingdom, a book I should have read a year ago and haven’t. But I own it now and it’s on high-priorities list.

I tag the following people (and everyone else who wants to do the tag) :

Wonder Woman Book Tag!

Hey, everyone! I was tagged by Angelica @The Book Cover Girls and Nessa @justbeingNessa, thank you very much, both of you for this! I adore Wonder Woman and I adore your blogs. Go check their blogs out if you haven’t already because they are gorgeous!

Fantasy Island: A book setting you want to escape to…

I think I can hear all of you sighing and thinking ‘omg, she will choose Middle Earth again, I know she will’. And I would under normal circumstances, but since I love you and I hate to be annoying, I’ll go for something else.

Both these universes seem phenomenal and I would love to escape in any of these. I can imagine myself doing Ravenclaw-ish stuff at Hogwarts and being besties with Hermione. And then there’s the PJATO universe that I would adore because gods and adventures (I think this one would be a bit more dangerous with all those easily-annoyed gods).

London: A hyped book that let you down…

As a college student and a ‘new adult’, I’ve been trying to familiarize myself with this genre, I tried to find some hidden gems in it. And both of these books were super hyped and I thought ‘okay, I will give them a chance even though their covers aren’t the best’. (I want to know what’s up with new adult books and those hyper-sexualized covers) But they were very disappointing, I find new adult love interests so insufferable and cocky all the time. Who falls for this kind of guys?

Steve Trevor: A book that has a beautiful cover and a great story (i.e. good personality)…

I think this book has one of the most beautiful covers I’ve ever seen, it’s so breath-taking. I could marry this book cover. And the concept of the book is incredible. Check it out!

Lasso of Truth: A book you hated…

This is hands down, the worst book I’ve ever read. Forget all your hated, despised books. This is the worst thing you might read. I’ve read it back in 2014 when I was still innocent and not very prone to ranting about book, but this is my reviewit’s full of complaints and gifs that have people wondering how stupid someone can be. The abuse represantion is awful, the relationship is based only on lust while it’s sold as something very deep, the heroine slut-shames other girls constantly and makes very stupid decisions. Just ugh.

Wonder Woman’s Shield: A book so sad that you need a shield…

I’m pretty positive this book made me cry a bit. It’s because of Andrew Minyard who is always trying to be such a tough cookie, but who has suffered so much and deserves better from this world. Please go read this series and if you haven’t like the first book, please try the second one because this series gets so much better!!

Ares: a villain that is scary, but you can’t seem to hate them…

Peter Pettigrew, he’s not even that scarry, he’s just so coward that it gets gross. I couldn’t hate him through the books, I just felt very sorry for him because I felt like he was very spineless and weak.

The Amazons: A book that you wish had more/better LGBT+ representation…

I will steal Angelica’s answer and go with SJM books, I feel like there are many books out there that need a better LGBT+ representation, but what’s worse than not having any representation, is trying it or putting it in your books just to please the fans. And that’s what I sometimes get the feeling some authors do.

Justice League: What superhero book friends do you tag…

I tag the following people :

And anyone else who wants to do the tag, consider yourself tagged by me! Kisses and many, many hugs!

The Halsey Book Tag (+some of my book aesthetics)

Hello, sweethearts! I adore Halsey and when I found out this book tag existed, I was so excited. I had to do this! Right now. Let’s get right into it!

1. Castle – Your favorite queen.

Arwen (from Lord of The Rings trilogy) and Lissa (from Vampire Academy), they are some great ladies, that I enjoyed reading about. The only complaint of mine is that Arwen doesn’t make that much of an appareance in the books.

2. Hold Me Down – A series you just can’t seem to quit no matter how hard you try.

I want to reread The Winner’s Curse soon, because I can’t seem to find any other book as good as this one. I adored the romance between Arin and Kestrel, the way Kestrel’s brain is a weapon and she doesn’t need to know how to use a sword to be badass and strong. Captive Prince is a series I’ve read in less than a week because of how much I enjoyed it.

3. New Americana – The fictional friend group you’d want to be your fight-the-apocalypse squad.

Can you imagine how cool it would be to fight in the apocalypse with Kaz, Inej, Nina, Matthias, Jesper and Wylan on your side? It would be so badass and also one of the best experience ever because you could totally befriend Inej and Nina, Nina and I would be bonding over sweets, I’m sure of it.

4. Drive – A couple that needs to communicate (better).

Kestrel and Arin, once again. I’m sorry, but these two are so frustrating in the second book when it comes to communication. But I liked it because it was relatable, at least to me. I’m bad at communicating, understanding cues when it comes to relationships and seeing someone dealing with similar circumstances was so great. (Also, this is my aesthetic of them. I really miss doing them)

5. Hurricane – Your favorite standalone.

The Secret History by Donna Tartt is by far, my favourite stand-alone. I’ve been putting off reading another book by Tartt just because I have huge expectations. This book is so goood, it’s murder club, it’s got greek culture, latin culture, intellectual over-pretentious kids. Sign me up.

6. Roman Holiday – Cutest contemporary couple.

Lara Jean x Peter K. & Simon x Blue are goals. They are so cute and sweet, and these books are the types that will make your face light up and you’ll smile like an idiot for hours.

7. Ghost – Most tragic breakup.

This was awful to bear. I feel pain as I talk about it, four years later. Kendare Blake, you’re a life ruiner.

8. Colors – One of your faves who hurts you a lot because they make TERRIBLE decisions.

Everyone in this book makes such horrible decisions, but then I guess you expect it from the synopsis. But god, I wish Agatha Christie gave us a break with all those horrible decisions. Still 10/10 would recommend the book.

9. Strange Love – A character a lot of people don’t get, but you absolutely love.

Daisy Calloway is such a cutiepie and I’ve seen so many people call her immature and say her depression isn’t real. But I will keep adoring this beam of sunlight. Bye.

Bonus/ Honorable Mention : Chaol. #chaoldefensesquad

10. Coming Down – A book with the best sexy times.

I’m not that big on sexy times, because most of the times they end up being very awkward. The Ritchie twins are the only ones that write sexy times that I don’t feel awkward reading, tbh.

11. Haunting – A book or character you’re still thinking about.

Evelyn Hugo is a star and I can’t stop thinking about her and how I want to be like her, to be so determined and always get what I want and never give up on my dreams.

12. Gasoline – Favorite self-destructive character.

ME! Can I say me? Oh, no, I can’t… Because I’m not a character, but boy, am I self-desctructive.

These two classics struck me as self-destructive and Frankenstein also destroyed me a bit. I still can’t believe I was capable to endure all that pain.

13. Control – Your favorite villain.

This is a nice one, you’ll never know what hit you. Trust me!

14. Young God – Characters that secretly worship each other.

Victor and Eli from Vicious, behind all that hating and bitching about who is the worst, you can’t tell me they don’t secretly worship each other and love each other’s intelligence. I’m so happy Schwab will actually read a sequel.

15. Walk the Line – Best retelling or reworking.

I’ve read Ripped Pages recently and I adored it, M. Hollis is a queen and you should definitely check it out!

16. Is There Somewhere – OTP with obstacles.

Andrew and Neil from All for The Game, are a slow-burn couple and I loved every little bit of their journey. And then there’s Anne and Richard III, I don’t believe in the Tudor propaganda and I don’t believe in Shakespeare. I know Richard wasn’t as bad as they made him to be and if you’re interested in another point of view about him, go read Sunne In Splendour.

17. Empty Gold – An OTP that became a NoTP.

idk???? Look, I’m loyal to my ships, I’m going to take my otps with me to my grave. If I ship someone, I don’t give up on them. And I have a very good intuition when it comes to ships that aren’t what they seem to be. So, I have no answer for this one.

18. Trouble – A toxic relationship you still ship even though you know better.

I ship Dramione, I said it! I know Draco is a little asshole in most of the books, but I feel like they would have so much chemistry together. Have you seen that scene where Hermione punches Draco? Quality stuff.

Hope you enjoyed the Halsey tag! Do you like Halsey? What is your favourite song of hers? And have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned?

Also, if you want to do the tag, please consider yourself tagged. I’m not going to tag anyone this time because it’s a very old tag and probably lots of people already did it…
