What I’m Reading for the #SmashYourTBR Readathon

readathon4.png

Hello, lovelies! As promised, I’m hosting a readathon this week starting tomorrow. If you’re from America, that’s actually Tuesday (2 p.m.) for you and ends on Sunday (3 p.m.). Romania’s time zone is GMT+3.

I’m trying to make things easy for everyone, but time zones are always clashing, so you’re open to ask me questions anytime or just do the readathon in your own timezone if that’s easier for you.

I’m going to remind you that there are no rules, I’m going to create some challenges for those of you who are highly competitive, but you’re free to ignore them and just read as many book as you can. After all, our purpose here is to slay our TBR piles.

Use the #SmashYourTBR hashtag on Twitter when you’re making updates, so we can find each other more easily. Also, I totally recommend you cheering on each other and maybe buddy-reading some books if you can do it! If you want to read any of the books I have on my TBR, you can reach out to me to see if we can read it together! That’s going to make things more fun!

Now, onto my TBR for this readathon…

Challenges:

1. Read a book on your favorite subject.

2. Read a book that’s been on your TBR since forever (more than a year).

3. Read a book from a genre that you don’t usually reach out for.

4. Read a sequel.

5. Read a book that’s been recommended to you by a friend.

#1. Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel

This is perfect for challenge number 3 as Sci-Fi isn’t a genre I usually reach out for, but I’m very excited for this one. I’ve heard it’a fast read, therefore I think it’s absolutely perfect for this readathon.

The subject is very intriguing and I love how scientific everything looks, I’m so down for this!

#2. We Are The Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson

This is also on my autumnal TBR and I really want to get to it, it would fall amazingly under the #2 challenge – a book that’s been on my TBR for a long time. I’ve had this on my TBR shelf for two years now and I think it’s high time I read it.

Aliens and cynicism, it sounds absolutely perfect for me.

#3. Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

This is perfect for the #5 challenge and it’s also been one on my TBR for too long and I just have to read it. This book should have been the idea why I started this readathon, really.

I’m absolutely excited to have another reason to read it.

A Gathering of Shadows Final

#4. A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab

This one is a bit too ambitious if you’re asking me, but I’d be happy even to start it. I’ll probably have to read a summary of A Darker Shade of Magic to refresh my knowledge of this series. It’s a book that I’ve been putting off for a long time now and it has to stop! I want to read it and I hope this will be the week I finally do it.

This is perfect for the sequel challenge.

35959977#5. Legendary Ladies: 50 Goddesses to Empower and Inspire You by Ann Shen

This is perfect for the first challenge as it’s about mythology and feminism, it’s also short and easy to read. I’m also so excited because it’s published by Abrams and their illustrations are always breath-taking. I’ll stare at them the whole time and forget about the readathon. I’m sorry.

Other books that I’m considering:

I can’t wait to see what all of you are going to read!

Are you taking part in my readathon?

What books are you reading? Do we have any book in common?

I’ve been in a bit of reading slump lately and I think this is the motivation I need to power through some of the books I’m currently reading and planning on reading

Aw, I hope you were able to join us or will join us in the weekend ❤
I know how reading slumps get, it's really hard to power through these, hopefully this readathon will help you.

I LOVE SLEEPING GIANTS!!!! It’s one of my scifi faves ❤ and I really hope you'll have a good time reading it. It's super twisted and dark sometimes, but darn, it was so good. I still haven't read the third book in the series (what a surprise … not) but if you find yourself loving it, maybe you can catch up on the second book and we might read the last one together? I say that fully knowing we haven't even read Cameron Post yet, because I keep postponing it, but yeah … love you and just wanted to offer it haha

It was really interesting, I really wonder what’s going to happen in the next books ❤
You're right about it being super twisted and dark, hopefully I'll catch up on the second book and be able to read the third one with you!
We can totally read the third book from Sleeping Giants together before Cameron Post if I catch up with the second one fast.

Oh good luck with this readathon Marta, I hope you manage to make it through as many of these books as possible (even if you don’t manage to get through them all). A Gathering of Shadows is a brilliant read, the Shades of Magic series is one of my all-time favourites so I’m really hope you at least start that one too, and oh I know it’s just made it onto the list of books you’re considering by Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour is my favourite by Morgan Matson, I’d highly recommend that as soon as you get a chance, even if it’s not during this readathon. 😀
Great post, and again good luck 🙂 ❤

Thank you very much, Beth! ❤
I really need to read a summary of A Darker Shade of Magic and then get on with A Gathering of Shadows, I might read it next since it's the only physical copy of my tbr, while the others are ebooks. I will surely read at some point Amy & Roger's Epic Detour since everyone says it's one of their favourite Matson books.
Happy reading to you too! ❤

I’m definitively going to join it! I just have to decide which books should I read. I love V.E. Schwab’s book. And yes, A Gathering of Shadows is probably really ambitious (haven’t read it yet, but let’s get real, it will be) but I hope you will enjoy it! Good luck!

So happy to have you join along! ❤
Hahaha, yeah, A Gathering of Shadows is quite long and fantasy books also take me a long time to read, so I'm not sure if I will be able to finish it during the readathon.
I hope you enjoy all the books you chose for your TBR. Good luck and happy reading! ❤

I’ve already finished Sleeping Giants and adored it so much, but I think I’ll read the second book as an audiobook because they seem perfect in this format! ❤
I hope you'll join in and smash your TBR along with all of us! What are you currently reading?

Sorry. That was a very, very expressive comment, right? right. Please read these two though because I am dying to hear your thoughts about these and I hope you’ll love them as much as I did 😀 best of luck for the readathon ❤ ❤

I love Radio Silence! It’s my favorite Alice Oseman book, I hope you enjoy reading it 😊 I should really get to A Gathering of Shadows soon too, I’m so bad at picking up sequels and I always forget the plot of the first book. Happy reading 💕
