Books I will probably never read tag

Since I’ve made a tag about books I haven’t read yet, but I intend on reading, I think it’s only logical to do this tag next. Let’s get it started!

1. A really hyped book that you’re not interested in reading

I’m not interested in any of those books anymore, I wanted to read both of them when they first came out (and they were really hyped back then too), but now I don’t really care about them. I don’t want to read Slammed because I’m wary about books that contain the teacher x student trope, I just don’t like it. I find it very awkward and just not okay since the teacher comes from a position of authority and he’s usually much more mature and should know better. Rebel Belle – I don’t have a serious reason for not being interested in it anymore, it’s just that my TBR is very long and I don’t think I’ll get to it, ever.

2. A series you won’t start/won’t be finishing

I have two answers for this one and one of them is very unpopular. Sorry about it.

Firstly, there’s The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, I’ve read the first three books and I enjoyed them, but it was going downhill from there. I tried to read Queen of Shadows, but I gave up on it after a while because I despise Rowan (sorry, not sorry!). I’ve lost count of the many love interests and Celaena got very annoying, also I don’t like the treatment Chaol got.

Then there’s the Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard, I’ve read only the first book and I feel like this is a huge mess. The power system is similar to the Grisha series, there’s a competition similar to The Selection, there’s a love triangle including brothers. Ordinary girl finds out she has powers and suddenly she has to live in the castle, she’s betrayed and so on (it sounds very similar to the Shadow & Bone plot to me). So, no, I won’t finish this series because of the lack of originality, but also because I only like the villain in this series.

3. A classic you’re just not interested in

Nothing really comes into my mind, but I suppose Love in the Time of Cholera & War and Peace are classics I won’t read anytime soon, if ever. I’ve tried to read the first a while ago and I disliked the writing style, couldn’t relate to the characters. War and Peace is just very huge and intimidating, I’m not interested into reading it yet because I don’t have the time for it.

4. A genre you never read

I like to try everything, but Historical Romance and Non-fiction are some genres that I rarely reach for. The only non-fictional books that I read are psychology books because I’m majoring in psych and even with those, it’s hard to find some that attract me as much as fictional books do. I think I’ve only read one historical romance book (it was a gift and I think I only gave it 2 stars), anyway, I think with this genre, it’s more of a problem that I don’t know what to begin with. There are so many books, series and I don’t know which are great and which aren’t.

5. A book on your shelves you’ll probably never read

I don’t think I’ll read anything by Nicholas Sparks, to be honest, I enjoy his movies, they are great guilty pleasures, but I rarely enjoy reading books that only focus on the romance. It’s just a particular taste, I know many people enjoy reading romance-packed books, but I’m not one of them.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children just has a weird relationship (I got spoiled about it, thank god!) and I just find it problematic.

What are some books you will never read and why? Tell me in the comments.

That’s great! I have a hard time reading adult romance as a genre overall, so I don’t think it’s Nicholas Sparks’ fault. I understand that, Kasie West is my go-to if I want anything easy and fun! Hahaha, I’m making up a list of classics recommendations soon, maybe you’ll find one interesting enough to get over the initial intimidation! 🙂

I’ll never finish Red Queen or Any SJM series either. I used to like SJM, but after Heir of Fire the series went down hill. She focused too heavily on romance than on plot. And I totally agree with Red Queen just being a mix of stories we’ve already read.

I feel the same about SJM books, they used to be so much better and then after HoF, it was obvious she changed many things plot-wise to accommodate Rowan into the story as a main character. I really liked Maven in Red Queen, but I can’t continue the series only for him…

Slammed is a terrible book/series. I thought the romantic interest was a little too aggressive… not to mention that the series is so melodramatic, it gets worse with each book too. Haven’t read any of the other books but perhaps that’s a good thing 😛

I hate love interest that are too aggressive and yes, I think that’s a general issue with Hoover’s books, some of them are light and fun, but it gets tiring really fast. Thank you for telling me about Slammed, that only makes me want to read it less. 🙂

The Throne of Glass series is AMAZING!! And how do you hate Rowan?? He was quite mean at first but he got better. At least, he was better than Chaol (in my opinion, he was very boring. He was my least favourite character) and Dorian (he had too many issues. Jeez. He and Caelena were a horrible match)

I feel like I never got over how mean Rowan was at the beginning, he never really grew on me afterwards either… But I know there are lots of people who really love him and that’s totally okay. I really love Chaol. I’m glad the second book of Red Queen worked better for you, I don’t think I’ll continue with the series since there are better books out there. 🙂

Oh well, we all have our different tastes. I totally understand not liking Rowan though. I’m not going to continue with the Red Queen series either. My TBR is so full; there’s no point adding books that were “meh”

Different tastes are great, don’t worry about it! I can understand why you’d like him and not like Chaol and Dorian, that’s totally cool! I have the same feeling, though I hate having another unfinished series, but it is what it is.
